“There is evidence that shows that “Fortune 500 companies experience a return on investment of 66% in invested capital, a 42% increase in sales, and return on equity increases averaging 53% when there were three or more women in directorship positions in their companies relative to those companies with fewer women directors.”[1] Additionally, gender diverse companies are more likely to outperform non-gender diverse companies by 15 percent, and ethnically diverse companies are more likely to outperform less ethnically diverse companies by 35 percent.[2] Even though these inequities may be caused by gender bias, double standards, or gender stereotypes in the marketplace, many women professionals are excluded from leadership seats at the table.
